Species: CLINOZOISITE Locality: Joppa Hill locale, Amherst, NH Specimen Size: 2.8 cm field of view Field Collected: Don Swenson Catalog No.: A Don Swenson specimen. Collected 2004. Notes: This is the best Joppa Hill clinozoisite specimen that I have seen, both in size and crystal quality. Pale green diopside and orange grossular are also present on this specimen. Clinozoisite is uncommon in New Hampshire. |

They did not change the name of the related species genthelvite to genthelvine. Do these guys know what they are doing ? I am keeping the helvite name out of protest ! |

Species: PYRITE on Quartz crystals Locality: Red Hill, Moultonboro, NH Specimen Size: 3.0 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer October, 2004. Catalog No.: u551 Notes: Pyrite altering to limonite on rust stained quartz crystals. Quartz is rare on Red Hill. I believe this is from a trip with Scott Whittemore in the 1990's when we spent several hours exploring different areas on the hill. |
